Ukraine is the second-largest country in Europe, with a thriving agricultural industry; it is often described as the “breadbasket of Europe”, and in 2021 produced about 80 million metric tonnes of wheat, ~10% of global supplies.
The country’s blue and gold flag represents the sky above a wheat field. In times of peace, much of this grain is destined for African markets, and Vallis’s February 2023 expansion into Ukraine, with country headquarters in Kyiv, will allow a move towards assisting and managing supply lines from end to end.
Vallis Marine and Inspection Services Ltd. will be based out of Odesa, operating with a team of highly trained local experts to handle operations in Eastern Europe; within Ukraine, Vallis is available to oversee operations in ports such as Reni and Izmail, which are hubs not only for sea and river transport but also for road and rail. These overland connections take commodities through countries like Poland, Hungary, and Romania. Despite the difficulties of the current geopolitical situation in Ukraine, Vallis is able to assist in supply line management and specialist assurance services.
