Namibia is a large and sparsely populated country on Africa’s southwest coast and distinguished by the spectacular Namib Desert along its coastline. Namibia is bordered to the west by the Atlantic Ocean and shares land borders with Angola to the north, Zambia and Botswana to the east and South Africa to the south. Despite the remote nature of much of the country, Namibia has seaports, airports, highways, and railways. The country seeks to become a regional transportation hub; it has an important seaport and several landlocked neighbours. The Central Plateau already serves as a transportation corridor from the more densely populated north to South Africa, the source of four-fifths of Namibia’s imports. Vallis VTAS conducted its first discharge supervision services and live reporting on a vessel discharge from the port in Walvis Bay, after a ban was put in place in the Namibian Explosives Team and NAMPORT (Namibian Port Authority). The VTAS live reporting interface provides details of the discharge in real-time, including the cargo discharge from the vessel and receipt into the warehouse, damages and stoppages. In addition to reporting, VTAS oversees the inspection process, loading and departure of trucks from the Quayside and unloading at the warehouse. Since then, Vallis VTAS has supervised a further three vessel discharge of Ammonium Nitrate in Walvis Bay, Namibia.
