Don Oliphant and I began this business in Africa and the Middle East in 2006, each of us working from home. We have now grown the business to 31 subsidiaries in Africa and the Middle East with nearly 600 people.
During this time, Vallis has managed 25 million tonnes of commodities through its supply chains. Our new Marine and Cargo Services, under the VTAS subsidiary – www.vallisTAS.com – has managed over a million tonnes in under a year of operating.
Don has been a fundamental cornerstone for Vallis, but he will continue to run with a couple of projects for us until they are completed. And of course, he will be on call as and when he is needed.
Don’s roles will be taken over by Darren Chantler, presently our Lead Internal Auditor, who becomes Head of Operations, and in South Africa by Richard Heath, Commercial Manager.
At Vallis, we all owe Don a huge debt of gratitude and wish him health and happiness in retirement.
