Kit Aid is a charity that distributes old and new football kit to children and adults in some of the world’s poorest countries. Vallis Commodities has partnered with Kit Aid to assist with the distribution of the kit in some of the communities in which we operate in Africa.
In October 2015, 2 Vallis staff, Imogen and Charles, participated in a boxing up session at Kit Aid headquarters in the UK. On the day, 197 boxes were packed, comprising 6,265 items. It was a fantastic experience and Imogen and Charles returned to Vallis Head Office with 3 boxes to be sent to Africa.
Imogen took the first box of kit on a Vallis management visit to the Ivory Coast in December. She visited an SOS Village Orphanage in the Ivory Coast to distribute the kit alongside Darren Chantler, Vallis’s Lead Internal Auditor and Meshak Jimoh, the Operations Manager there. They travelled to Abobo-Gare, one of the most impoverished areas in Abidjan, to give out 40 new West Ham United football shirts to children who have lost their parents to illness and conflict.
The Kit Aid box also included footballs. The team of carers at the orphanage showed the Vallis staff an area they are intending to use as a football pitch. Below is a photo gallery of the work we have done with Kit Aid. If you would like to support Kit Aid, please visit their website.
