Estonia is the northernmost of the Baltic states. With a population of about 1.3 million, it is one of the least populous members of the European Union, but it consistently ranks highly for quality of life, education, press freedom and technology.
Agriculture and mining are large industries in Estonia; machinery, wood, and food are common exports. The largest cargo port in Estonia is Muuga Harbour, just north of the capital Tallin. Tallin’s port authority manages Muuga Harbour as well.
Approximately 90% of transit cargo volume that passes through Estonia is handled in Muuga port, and this includes crude oil, oil products, and dry bulk goods. Vallis is operational in Estonia as of April 2023.
