Sudan, officially the Republic of Sudan, is now the third-largest country in Africa, covering 1,861,484 km2, after its separation from South Sudan in 2011. It is a landlocked country with a population circa. 37 million.
The most important exports for Sudan are gold at 70% and livestock at 25%. The country’s top import partners are China, UAE, Japan, Saudi Arabia and Italy.
Sudan is the biggest producer of Arabic gum; its production covers 80% of the world’s consumption. The gum is used in foodstuffs, the chemical industry, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and lithography.
