Trace Tag – Tagging and Traceability Systems

We are pleased to announce that Vallis Commodities now offers a new risk mitigation service relating to petroleum products for customers in Africa and the Middle East.

The new service is a marking system for petroleum products that allows each marked batch of product to be uniquely identified. It is estimated that a 5% loss of revenues in the region is due to fraudulent activity, particularly smuggling and adulteration of product.

TraceTag is a global leader in high security marking and tracing technology with which Vallis Commodities is collaborating to provide an effective fraud deterrent and product identification service.

At the centre of the Cyphermark system developed by TraceTag is a unique marker that is added to product in low concentrations. The marker is a covert DNA based system that when added to a product makes it uniquely identifiable. Cyphermark provides a high degree of assurance that it cannot be duplicated or identified without provision of a special key.

Identification of the marker can be carried out on any site using a mobile laboratory. Cyphermark evidence is admissible in court cases involving theft, loss or fraud.
