Textbooks in Maths and English have been provided to junior and senior secondary schools across the nation on behalf of the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, through a programme funded by UK Aid from the British Government.
This project was supervised by Isaac Beveridge, Sierra Leone’s Country Manager for Vallis.
Collaboration between Vallis and DPSA for Mott MacDonald ensured project delivery to improve learning conditions for children in Sierra Leone.
Vallis provided supply chain control services to DPSA:
- Providing on-the-ground logistics coordination and key insights on the local level.
- Inspections and recommendations for the sites and personnel at the 14 districts to provide confidence that the sites were fit for purpose.
- Reviewing and reporting on the supply chain operation procedures, including providing recommendations on transportation methods for remote districts and assessment of warehouse procedures.
- Collaborative distribution planning with DPSA and their sub-contractors to ensure effective distribution from the receipt of goods at the port, into the central warehouse, then last mile deliveries to district stores.
Ms Emily K. Gogra, Sierra Leone’s Deputy Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, thanked the distributors for promoting the environment of learning and expressed her sincere gratitude.
Following the successful completion of this project for Mott MacDonald, Vallis looks forward to expanding further in the international development arena.
