Coffee
Since 2006 almost 200,000 tonnes of coffee has passed through Vallis management in countries including Uganda, South Africa and Tanzania. previous contracts have seen Vallis involved throughout the coffee process. The responsibilities of Vallis, in this case, are summarised below:
Coffee Bean Process:
- Raw coffee beans are delivered by the farmer to the factory/buyer
- The unloading process into storage (normally silos) is monitored by Vallis staff
- The coffee is processed, graded and bagged for export
- Released (upon instruction), the product is loaded into containers and transported to its destination
Vallis Responsibilities under CMA:
- Monitor the unloading, quantity, quality and storage of product received
- Report to the bank and issue a Warehouse Receipt for the product received
- Manage coffee through factory processing, undertaking quality control measures where necessary
- Ensure pledge cards are placed on all of the bank’s products
- Ensure Vallis seals are in place at the warehouse/storage facility
- Complete detailed daily reporting on all stock figures
